Gunfire Games’ Remnant 2 has been making waves since it launched on July 25. The tough co-op shooter wears its FromSoftware influence on its sleeve, which has resonated with fans and critics alike. The developers have revealed that Remnant 2 has already sold over a million copies, exceeding the first game’s launch sales by a considerable amount.
When Remnant: From the Ashes hit shelves in 2019, it took two months before it sold over a million copies. As Gunfire Games has announced, the sequel achieved this feat in just four days. Yoon Im of Gearbox Publishing stated that “Remnant 2 exceeded our expectations. As a commercial and critical hit, we’re incredibly proud of the Gunfire team and everyone here at Gearbox Publishing who brought this title to life.”
There were early signs that Remnant 2 was gearing up for an explosive launch. Before its release, it had claimed the top spot on Steam’s best-seller list, overtaking trending titles like Starfield and BattleBit Remastered. It currently sits in third place, surpassed only by Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Baldur’s Gate 3. When it was finally released, it doubled the number of concurrent players its predecessor had at launch.
The high sales numbers have been accompanied by plenty of critical acclaim, with our own Steven Mills scoring it an impressive 8.5. And with its numerous secrets, we’ll likely talk about this one for some time still.
Remnant 2 is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
