After the Redmi Note 11 and Redmi Note 11S, it was only obvious to wait for the Pro variants of these phones. Thankfully, we did not have to wait much long. In a cryptic tweet from Xiaomi’s Manu Kumar Jain, it is hinted that the Redmi Note 11 Pro series is launching soon in India. The Note 11 Pro has already been launched in European markets and India is the only one left to get it. This time though, the model lineup could be slightly different.
In the global markets, consumers can choose between a Redmi Note 11 Pro 4G and a Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G. The difference? The latter is relying on a more powerful 5G chipset while the former will use the same 4G chip from MediaTek. Both phones are expected to succeed the Redmi Note 10 Pro and Redmi Note 10 Pro Max from last year. It remains to be seen whether Xiaomi names the Note 11 Pro 5G as the Redmi Note 11 Pro Max in India.
The Redmi Note 11 Pro models have got substantial upgrades this year. The 120Hz AMOLED display remains from the older model but the rest of it has changed. The design is new, going after an iPhone 12-inpsired boxy look with flat sides. These phones launched globally with MIUI 13 based on Android 11, although it remains to be seen whether Xiaomi launches them with Android 12 in India.
Both phones feature almost the same rear cameras. The main camera is a 108MP HM2 sensor from the older model. This is accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide camera, 2MP depth camera and a 2MP macro camera. The Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G skips the 2MP depth camera. Both have a 16MP selfie camera.
