Rockstar isn’t bringing any more major themed updates for Red Dead Online as it has shifted its focus to developing the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6. The studio shared the news via its website, as they wrote, “We have been steadily moving more development resources towards the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. As a result, we are in the process of making some changes to how we support Red Dead Online.” The company is not dropping the support from Red Dead Online completely, but it won’t be adding new modes and content, instead, it will improve the game’s existing modes.
The company in its official statement said that they will continue to showcase the unique additions like Specialist Roles, story-based cooperative missions, competitive Showdown Modes, and much more, through Red Dead Online’s monthly events. It will let players of all levels enjoy everything the vast frontier has to offer. Additionally, the company is also planning to build upon existing modes and add new Telegram Missions this year. They further said, “we will continue to highlight and share the creative efforts of our Red Dead community at every opportunity via the Newswire and beyond.”
This news is not that surprising considering that Grand Theft Auto Online is the biggest money-maker for Rockstar.
The company further announced, “a new update is coming to GTA Online on all platforms that will expand upon the Criminal Careers of Executive, Biker, Gunrunner, and Nightclub Owner — alongside a set of Contact Missions that presents the opportunity to be sworn in as a special IAA field operative to investigate a budding criminal conspiracy.”
