Have you ever looked at your phone and felt a little bored by its features? You download a new app or two for a sense of excitement, but the feeling soon passes. Well, get ready to get a whole new phone without having to buy one.
Apple's iOS 16 was introduced at WWDC this week alongside iPadOS 16 and watchOS 9. It looks different immediately, mostly because the familiar lock-screen is no longer that familiar. It's now customizable: You can change the way the date and time look and even add depth to the photo you keep on it. Not to mention that there are new ways to widget.
Get a little deeper into iOS 16, and you'll find iMessages has lots of new features, including the ability to edit and even recall text messages. Siri's dictation skills have improved to the point that it handles punctuation automatically and will add emojis if you ask for them. Maps is much better at getting you around, and you can finally add your transit passes to it.
There's lots more to explore in iOS 16, but you're going to have to wait until the fall to try all this out. Or are you? There are a couple of ways to get it early. Read on for tips on how to be ahead of the curve as well as how to download it when it's officially released.
