Razzies Rescind Shelley Duvall's The Shining Nomination
Having previously expressed regret for the decision, the Razzie Awards are rescinding Shelley Duvall's nomination for The Shining. More formerly known as the Golden Raspberry Awards, the ceremony is best known for targeting critically scorned movies and granting them awards in fashion similar to the Academy Awards. However, instead of celebrating the better elements of the worst films, the Razzies instead elect to highlight the «Worst» aspects, namely performances, direction and screenplay.
Though initially getting some positive fan followings in its earlier years, the Razzies have mostly received criticism from Hollywood and audiences alike for unfairly setting their sights on easy-to-target movies and taking cheap shots at those being nominated. Recent years have seen the Razzies attempt to course correct with more positive-skewing awards, including the Razzie Redeemer Award that's presented to former nominees or winners who have enjoyed a comeback of some sort, some of whom include Eddie Murphy for his celebrated turn in Dolemite is My Name after being named the Worst Actor of the Decade in 2010 and Melissa McCarthy for her Oscar-nominated performance in Can You Ever Forgive Me?. Despite this, the Razzies continue to be the center of criticism and are now attempting to right some of their past wrongs.

As the ceremony continues to come under fire, the Razzie Awards (via Entertainment Weekly) have elected to rescind Shelley Duvall's nomination for Worst Actress for her performance in The Shining.
