Rachel Zegler joked that she couldn't believe Disney's choice of snacks on the Snow White set. The talented actress recently made her acting debut starring in the film adaptation of West Side Story, directed by Steven Spielberg. Her performance, as well as the film, garnered critical acclaim and many plaudits, eventually landing Zegler a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress — Motion Picture Comedy or Musical. She became the first actress of Colombian descent to claim the award, and was also the youngest winner, being only 20 years old.
Zegler was revealed to be cast as Snow White in Disney's upcoming live-action adaptation back in June of 2021, taking on the iconic role as the first Disney princess, with the original film being released around 85 years ago. The live-action adaptation was announced in 2016, with Marc Webb set to be directing the film and the live-action Aladdin songwriters, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, signed on to take charge of the music. November 2021 saw Snow White reveal more about the project, with Greta Gerwig reportedly tapped to write the film's script following her success with the likes of Little Women and Lady Bird. It was also confirmed that Gal Gadot has joined the cast, portraying the Evil Queen.
