Collector’s Edition of Psychonauts 2 will feature cut content that did not make it into the game’s original release. Double Fine released the long-awaited follow-up to the studio’s cult-classic 2006 platformer Psychonauts last year, and it appears that developers left a significant amount of content on the cutting room floor. Fans will finally get a peek at some of these axed concepts when the Collector’s Edition releases later this year.
Double Fine’s Director of Communications and Marketing James Spafford talked about the cut content in a recent Screen Rant interview. He was joined by Anna Bihari, the Director of Product and Retail for iam8bit, who has partnered with Double Fine to make the Psychonauts 2 Collector’s Edition a reality.

The upcoming Collector’s Edition includes a variety of goodies for fans of the literally mind-bending series. But while Collector’s Edition merchandise can be great, Spafford drew special attention to Psychonauts 2’s cut content. “So, I hope people find a lot of stuff in there that we cut from the game because we just didn’t have time to make them,” said Spafford. These include a variety of powers and even plot points that never made it into the game for one reason or another. However, he also noted that the cut content heavily influenced the game Psychonauts 2 became, noting that “they all connect somewhere.”
The Collector’s Edition includes Psychonauts and Psychonauts 2. The former comes on a separate disk printed exclusively for the Psychonauts 2 Collector’s Edition.
