Sony unveiled the PlayStation 5’s new VR headset, aptly named PSVR2, back at the beginning of January. After that, news on the device became scarce beyond speculation and rumor. Now, it looks like all that is about to change with the addition of a new page on the PlayStation website dedicated to the VR headset. While the new page covers everything we already know, it does allow PSN account holders to sign up to be notified when they can officially pre-order the headset.
Users who sign up through the PSVR2 page will be updated with the latest news including “game announcements, release dates and when you can pre-order your headset”. This is a big deal if the PSVR2 proves as popular as the PlayStation 5 in terms of stock. Likely, getting a headset when it launches will not be an easy task. So, signing up now may be a smart move.

The PSVR2 is being touted as the “next generation of virtual reality gaming” by PlayStation. With a 4K HDR display and up to 120fps, this new display offers four times the resolution that its predecessor did. Built-in eye-tracking will let players interact in new ways and offer heightened emotional responses and enhanced expressions. Plus, the new device will integrate the PS5’s haptic feedback where players will feel subtle and responsive vibrations within the headset.
Launching alongside the PSVR2 is the VR2 Sense controller. These orb-shaped controllers will feature analog sticks, buttons, and a finger touch detection system that will replicate natural motions and gestures. Haptic feedback and adaptive triggers will immerse the user even further into the virtual world.
