Poco M4 Pro 5G has a launch date in India! In a social media tweet made earlier, Poco clarified that the M4 Pro 5G will be made official on February 15 via an online launch event. Poco also revealed how the phone looks – spoiler alert, it may not surprise you if you have seen the Poco M3 and this year’s Redmi Note 11T 5G. Rumours suggest that the Poco M4 Pro is likely to be a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 11T, albeit with a new design and some bumped up RAM/Storage specs.
The Poco M4 Pro has the same blacked-out rectangular camera surround as the Poco M3. The camera hump, however, is reminiscent of the one from the Redmi Note 11T 5G. The phone even seems to have a similar blue gradient colour scheme as the Redmi Note 11T, accompanied by a standard Poco yellow and grey colours. A previous teaser also confirmed a similar bezel-less display design with a center punch-hole camera cut-out.
The Poco M series has always seen rebadged Redmi devices with bumped up RAM and storage variants. Last year’s Poco M3 Pro 5G was based on the Redmi Note 10T 5G while the Poco M3 was mostly based on the Redmi 10 Prime. The Poco M2 was based on the Redmi 9 Prime whereas the Poco M2 Pro was based on the Redmi Note 9 Pro.
What remains to be seen is how Poco prices the M4 Pro 5G in India, given that there has been a lot of activity in the sub- ₹20,000 5G smartphone space lately. The M4 Pro 5G could be based on the Dimensity 810 chipset, have a 90Hz refresh rate IPS LCD display, a 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging, and Xiaomi’s favourite 50MP main rear camera.
While the company is catering to the affordable end of the market, its last year’s Poco F3 GT flagship was recently seen getting the test version of MIUI 13 based on Android 12. No
