Some PlayStation 5 owners are reporting that they can now automatically upload captured screenshots and videos to the PlayStation mobile app.
Until now, there’s been no way to automatically access captures on the PS App, meaning players have to use their console to manually share them on social media and download them there.
According to reports on Reddit and Twitter, however, some players – mainly based in North America at this stage – have been stating that their console can now auto-upload to the PS App.
Anyone for whom the feature has already rolled out can go to the Media Gallery on their PS5 console, at which point they’ll instantly get a pop-up telling them about the new feature.
It reads: “Automatically upload your latest screenshots and video clips, and view them on PlayStation App.”
The message explains that upon capturing a screenshot or video clip (no longer than three minutes), it will be automatically uploaded to the PS App, where it will remain for 14 days.
This will allow players to use their captures in their photo or editing app of choice, rather than being limited to sharing them on social media.
The auto-uploading of captures is something Xbox owners have been able to do for many years, so the news will be welcomed by PlayStation owners who regularly take and share captures.

The PS5’s last major system update took place in September 2021, adding the ability to expand the console’s storage with an off-the-shelf M.2 SSD.
The September system update also introduced 3D audio support through TV speakers, with Sony saying it had improved the game audio quality of some titles when 3D audio for headphones was enabled.
