Busted out the ps3 today, it's a backwards compatible one, and for some reason it will read ps2 games just fine however it won't read any ps3 games. Disc will go in and can hear it spinning but will not read it. Any advice?

The PS3 has a dual laser system. Sounds like your Bluray laser died.
My CECHE01 PS3 can read DVD's, PS3 games and PS1 games. It will sometimes read PS2 games--when it wants. I am in the market of purchasing a PS2 (maybe import one) and use free mcboot.
