Princess Peach is enjoying a bit of a moment right now, largely due to her well-received portrayal in the very successful Super Mario Bros. Movie, and now the Mushroom Kingdom monarch is getting her first game in nearly two decades. This game was first teased during the last Nintendo Direct, but today during a new Direct we got actual details on the upcoming game Princess Peach: Showtime!
This time around, Princess Peach is getting into community theatre, but a new team of baddies (the excellently-named “Grape and the Sour Bunch”) take over the show. It’s up to Peach to save the play, and she does that with a variety of transformations, including Swordfighter, Detective, Patisserie, and Martial Arts Peach. It seems like variety is the order of the day here, as each level in Princess Peach: Showtime! appears to feature a different type of gameplay (action, mystery solving, baking).
