Ubisoft has shared an update on the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, revealing that the long-delayed game has passed an "important milestone" in its development.
Yesterday marked the 20th anniversary of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, meaning that it's been two whole decades since fans first got their hands on the Dagger of Time. While that should be a reason to celebrate, it's also a sore reminder that we still don't have any concrete information about the Sands of Time remake, which was delayed indefinitely in 2021 and restarted its development with a new team in 2022..
As we reported last year, one of the biggest issues plaguing the Sands of Time remake's development was Ubisoft's choice to develop it under the AnvilNext 2.0 engine, which is primarily suited for open-world games.
Although we still don't know all that much about the Sands of Time remake beyond the fact that it's being developed by Ubisoft Montreal, the 20th anniversary did bring with it a positive update on the game's development. Over on Twitter, the official Prince of Persia account shared the anniversary of the Sands of Time, calling it "one of the most heroic tales in all of video games".
After tooting its own horn a little bit, the Prince of Persia Twitter account then gave an update on the remake's development status, which seems to be going smoothly as Ubisoft revealed that it just passed an "important internal milestone". Nothing else was shared on the game's current status, but at least we know that things are going well so far.
