Reports went around this morning that GameStop was no longer expecting the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake to release. Turns out, that’s not quite the case. The Prince of Persia remake is happening, though it’s just as delayed as it already was.
Word of GameStop letting pre-order holders know the game wasn’t expected to release was running around. The pre-order was delisted from GameStop’s website. Popular games and deals Twitter account Wario64 noted the situation this morning:

Fanbyte spoke to an anonymous GameStop employee, who shared a message being sent around to stores:
“We have been notified that, the following product will NOT be arriving to stores. Product is no longer expected to release. Our records indicate that your store has facilitated one or more reservations for this SKU.
“Please contact your guests who have reservations on this product to let them know that the product will NOT be arriving”
It seems like the situation’s a bit more complex, though. In a statement to Destructoid, Ubisoft says that while it is asking for the Prince of Persia remake to be delisted, that doesn’t mean it’s canceled. It’s just been internally delayed out of the company’s fiscal year.
