Hoopa has been added to Pokémon Unite, and the Mischief Pokémon possesses an extraordinarily powerful ability. The free-to-play online battle arena, launched in 2021, has players go head-to-head while controlling two teams of pocket monsters. Developer TiMi Studio Group continues expanding the game's roster of playable Pokémon, with Pokémon Unite revealing Trevenant as a surprise addition in January.
Available on mobile platforms, including Nintendo Switch, Pokémon Unite sees two teams of five players face off in a fast-paced Pokémon battle. Players score points by defeating wild Pokémon, or by capturing one of several goals placed around the Aeos Island map. Pokémon Unite launched with a limited roster, which included franchise staples like Charizard and Gendar, and TiMi Studio Group has continued to add new playable Pokémon over time. Notable post-launch additions include Blastoise and Dragonite, which add even more variety to each team's composition and strategy. The MOBA has also been improved over time through the release of patches, with a recent update adjusting Pokémon Unite matchmaking while adding buffs and nerfs to make combat more balanced.

A brand-new Pokémon Unite spotlight trailer, posted to YouTube, introduces the newly-added Hoopa's special abilities. The powerful trickster is able to use dirty tactics, sowing discord amongst its opponents before unleashing its full power. The Hyperspace Hole move lets Hoopa open a portal on the battlefield, allowing its team to teleport back to their base before returning to the fight.
