The Pokémon Trading Card Game is collaborating with McDonald's once again, with Pokémon-themed Happy Meals returning to stores. McDonald's has run Pokémon promotions in the past on numerous occasions, with with them usually proving popular.
There have been numerous collaborations between Pokémon and various other companies over the years. These have included the production of everything from novelty foodstuffs to collectible toys. Only last year, as part of Pokémon's 25th-anniversary celebration, a special promotion was run in conjunction with Mcdonald's. Through this event, fans were able to obtain packs of special Pokémon TCG cards with Happy Meals. In total, 50 different cards were made available as part of the promotion. However, controversy soon enveloped the promotion. With TCG cards skyrocketing in value at the time, scalpers attracted to the Pokémon promotion ruined it for many fans by buying up stock and then selling the cards on for outrageous prices.

Last year's problems do not seem to have dissuaded The Pokémon Company, however, as it has now teamed up with Mcdonald's for a new wave of Pokémon TCG promotional items, including a new set of cards. As reported by PokéBeach, the promotion is currently live in UK McDonald's stores. US outlets, meanwhile, will begin the fun next week, with the promotion running from August 9 to September 26. Included in each Pikachu-themed Happy Meal box are four cards, as well as a special spinner and coin used to play a new game named "Match Battle". The size of the booster packs is similar to that of the Pokémon TCG's upcoming Halloween Trick-or-Trade BOOsters, which will themselves be available in the same period
