While players wait for the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet they have been creating theories and fan art in honor of the titles. For one fan, they turned to the franchise’s past to show its upcoming future. In a recent piece of fan art, this Pokemon fan showed off a few scenes from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet but as they would appear on a Nintendo DS.
The Nintendo DS system featured a handful of Pokemon games including the original Pokemon Diamond and Pearl all the way to Pokemon Black 2 and White 2. These games feature a top-down perspective, and the designs feature shrunken characters in pixilated worlds.

This fan art shows off a creation by u/eyeudon, and it is both a throwback and a look ahead. They divide their fan art into four different sections, showing different scenes players will likely experience in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The top left image shows the main character with Koraidon, the legendary Pokemon players can meet in Pokemon Scarlet. The top right image shows one of most memorable sights in any Pokemon game: when players choose one of the starters in the region. The bottom left shows a rival battle between the player and Penny and Nemona. The final scene shows the player taking on Grusha in a Pokemon battle.
This fan art shows the strong feelings that players still have with regard to the older generations in the Pokemon franchise. While this is an NDS-inspired pixel art creation, it certainly shares a resemblance to the GameBoy Advance graphics as well. What players can be sure of is that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will look much more like the Pokemon Legends: Arceus rather than its predecessors.
