A line of Pokémon-inspired nail polishes is set to launch in Japan in May, allowing real-life trainers to look their best. There has been a lot of weird Pokémon merchandise released over the years, such as the Ditto & Snorlax bean bag chairs, or the Metapod sleeping bag, but that's the kind of thing that hits the market when it involves the biggest media franchise of all time.
The Pokémon franchise is a merchandise selling machine, especially when it comes to the plushie market. In the early days of the franchise, the merchandise was aimed squarely at kids, as they were the target audience for Pokémon Red and Blue, and the Pokémon anime. Pokémon has just celebrated its 25th anniversary, which means that a lot of the kids who loved Pokémon during the Pokémania boom of the late '90s are now adults, and wish to buy gear based on their favorite Pokémon. The adult Pokémon trainers who have found a love match can even buy a Pokémon engagement ring for over $1000, assuming they have that kind of cash and a partner who loves the franchise as much as they do.

Pokémon will be entering the makeup industry in May when a line of Pokémon-inspired nail polishes hit the market. These are being released by Japanese makeup brand Uka (as reported by Nintendo Life), with six shades available at launch. The nail polishes use a vegan formula and have quick-drying properties. The Pokémon nail polishes will be released in Japan on May 13, with pre-orders opening on May 6. There is currently no word regarding an international release.
