Niantic has announced that Pokémon GO's Valentine's Day event will introduce Flabébé, Floette, and Florges into the game. Pokémon GO is a free-to-play augmented reality game in which players discover Pokémon in the real world to catch, collect, and battle. Gyms and raid battles lend a multiplayer aspect to the game, enabling trainers to battle powerful and rare Pokémon for significant rewards and the chance to catch them or pit themselves against teams of other players' Pokémon to gain control of a gym for their team. Despite being almost six years old the game retains a loyal player base, whose interest remains captured by regular updates to the game coupled with exciting events.
Events in Pokémon GO are one of the main ways the game keeps itself interesting. From the long-running Season of Heritage event to shorter but larger-scale events like Pokémon GO tours, events in the game present opportunities to catch rare Pokémon. During events, players can complete Special Research Tasks and cash-in on bonus rewards of various kinds. Many events are also accompanied by certain Pokémon with rare moves, bonus free raid passes, and sometimes special, cosmetically altered Pokémon.
