Niantic has kept Pokemon GO going strong since it first launched in 2016 thanks to regular content updates that keep fans coming back for more. Pokemon GO recently started its Season of Alola, which sees Generation 7 Pokemon added to the game through special events. The latest is the Lush Jungle special event, which gives Pokemon GO players the chance to catch Fomantis, Lurantis, and legendary Pokemon Tapu Lele.
The Pokemon GO Lush Jungle event runs from March 22 at 10:00am local time until March 29 at 8:00pm local time. During this window, Pokemon GO players can expect to see new Pokemon appearing in raids and in the wild, and they'll also have the Akala Adventure Special Research to complete as well. The Lush Jungle weekend spotlight, meanwhile, will be of particular interest to Pokemon GO shiny hunters.

Cottonee is a grass/fairy-type Pokemon that evolves into Whimsicott if players have at least 50 Cottonee candy and a Sun Stone handy. Of course, the addition of shiny Cottonee to Pokemon GO means that shiny Whimsicott will be available in the game as well.
Cottonee will be getting the spotlight this weekend, but Pokemon GO players will have plenty of time to catch one before then. Cottonee is appearing regularly in the wild right now, plus Cottonee can be found in Pokemon GO raids. Cottonee is a 1-star raid battle, which means that pretty much all Pokemon GO players will be able to defeat it, even if they are brand-new to the game and have a weak team.
