A talented Pokemon fan has created sprites for the starter Pokemon of the nine generations. Pokemon has become a franchise known for exciting stories where players travel the game's world, battle, and meet different characters. But nearly every Pokemon adventure begins in the same way: with the hard quest of choosing a starter Pokemon.
The starter Pokemon is usually gifted to the player by the Pokemon Professor at the beginning of the game. There are exceptions, however, including Pokemon Yellow and Pokemon: Let's Go. While the first trio introduced to fans was Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander, over the years the Pokemon starter trios have changed their appearances significantly. Despite this, they have an unusual trait, which is to always have the same types — fire, water, and grass. The reason for this is to illustrate the effectiveness of one type over the other, easily demonstrating the rock, paper, and scissors relationship between Pokemon types that is a crucial part of gameplay.
Reddit user Feekera created adorable sprites of Pokemon starters from all generations, sharing the result online. The fan art shows the starters organized by type, with one line for the Grass-type Pokemon, and another two for the Fire-type and Water-type Pokemon. As they are side by side, fans can see the differences in the designs used by Game Freak over the years. The end of each line shows Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly, the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet starters, and the most recent ones introduced to Pokemon fans.
