Pokemon Fan Builds Cartridge That Makes Game Boy Function as a Pokedex
When the Pokemon video games first released, they were made available to the public on the Nintendo Game Boy platform. At the time, it seemed that many within the community were enamored by the title, and since then, The Pokemon Company has grown its legacy with a wide variety of Pokemon video game releases and merchandise. Now, the Pokemon fan base seems interested in doing their part in keeping the love for the series alive, with one fan even creating a nostalgic Game Boy cartridge that can function as a Pokedex.
Many within the Pokemon community are quite familiar with the Pokedex and its functions. The device logs information about Pokemon which the player can easily refer to when they want to know more details about a certain pocket creature. Information about a Pokemon is gathered when a trainer encounters or spots a Pokemon, but more detailed data is recorded onto the device when the trainer is able to capture said Pokemon. Though the Pokedex's physical form changed throughout the years, its main function relatively stayed the same.

On Reddit, user QueenL3fah shared a video of the custom Game Boy cartridge they created that functions as a Pokedex. The footage includes the Redditor showcasing what the cartridge looks like on the back of the Game Boy and also what the screen looks like when booting it up. QueenL3fah also demonstrated how they were able to input letters, typing in the word «Bulbasaur,» and finally showing the Pokedex entry of the Pokemon. Though there are still many kinks to the Pokedex Game Boy cartridge, the engineering work and attention to detail is very impressive.
