Earlier this year, it was revealed that a stop-motion animated Pokemon series is in the works. We’ve gotten our first trailer and it’s outrageously cute.
The Pokemon Company has partnered with Netflix to produce Pokemon Concierge. The series follows a girl named Haru (voiced by Karen Fukuhara) who begins work at a tropical Pokemon Resort. She quickly discovers just how peaceful the resort can be but it’s not all relaxing, as she also has to ensure the Pokemon have a good time.
The stop-motion is being done by Dwarf Animation which also handles My Dad the Bounty Hunter. All the Pokemon look criminally cuddly with their felt skin and adorable cries. The trailer features a catchy theme song by Mariya Takeuchi, and it gives the impression that we’ll be in for a tranquil but action-packed adventure.
Haru will meet Tyler, Alisa, and Watanabe during her time at the Pokemon Resort. The original animated series has been running since 1997, so you aren’t alone if you’ve had more than enough of it. This unique spin-off could be a great way to get old fans interested in the Pokemon world again.
The series has four episodes that are 14-20 minutes each. It hits Netflix on December 28.
