PlayStation has one of the biggest gaming accounts on Twitter, with an eye-watering 30.1 million followers – but as the fallout from Elon Musk’s takeover of the social media platform continues, the juggernaut is no longer verified. The Japanese giant did previously have a gold checkmark to denote that it’s an official corporation, but that’s now gone.
Twitter is charging partners up to $1,000 a month to retain their gold checkmarks, but it’s unclear whether this is a mix-up or the platform holder simply refused to pay. The official Sony account has retained its gold checkmark, for example, while flagship first-party developers like Naughty Dog and Santa Monica Studio have lost theirs. Elsewhere, Sony Pictures doesn’t have a tag, but Sony Pictures UK and subsidiary Crunchyroll does!
Obviously, if you’ve been following the news lately you’ll be well aware that Twitter has become a bit messy. The social media platform is still popular, and it can be a fairly good source for breaking news, so we don’t expect Sony to stop promoting its products on the platform any time soon – but it looks like it’s going to do so without official identification for the time being.

I think with that many followers they don't need no verification tick.

It's probably just that Sony doesn't want to pay $1000 a month for a stupid checkmark. (I certainly wouldn't) But if someone told me that Elon Musk saw the ending of Burning Shores and unverified them out of spite, I wouldn't call them a liar.
