Reaching higher levels in Pikmin Bloom makes it harder to complete certain challenges. For example, reaching level 50 requires players to get at least two stars in normal Mushroom Challenge Battles. In Pikmin Bloom, players are pushed to explore the world around them to plant flowers to make it more vibrant. Pikmin will grow passively with every step the player takes. As more levels are unlocked, more Pikmin types will become available. Although, it does take a while to unlock access to the Mushroom Challenges.
Pikmin Bloom expeditions are unlocked once the player reaches level 6. Now, it's possible to send Pikmin out into the world to collect fruit or seedlings. Although, there will be times when Mushrooms will appear in the world. Players can then send their Pikmin to destroy these Mushrooms for small bonuses. They range from Small, Medium, to Large, with Large having the highest HP of the bunch. It's also possible for up to five players to tackle a Mushroom Challenge at the same time. The faster the mushroom is destroyed, the more rewards and a higher-star rank will be given.

For starters, it's important to send it the same color Pikmin as the Mushrooms. For example, Winged Pikmin will do a lot more damage against Pink Mushrooms than any other type of Pikmin. Since players are only allowed to send in as many Pikmin as they have in their squad, it's recommended to grow all different types often. Not only that, but if these Pikmin are Decor Pikmin with flowers, they'll do even more damage. Players can grow Flower Pikmin by feeding them a variety of different nectar that comes from fruit. Feed them before sending them on an expedition to do more damage in Pikmin Bloom.
