A dangerous enemy lurks deep within the Metaverse known as the Reaper, an extremely powerful enemy that is very difficult to defeat. The Reaper is brought up to the player by Morgana while visiting Mementos. Morgana advises that the player avoid running into the Reaper at every cost as it can easily one-shot party members without effort. The only time players should challenge this foe is much later into the game, as they will then have more powerful Personas and contain much higher stats from leveling up.
In the original, the best time to run into the Reaper was during Flu Season in Japan. With the rules of the Metaverse, if people are feeling down or sick in the real world, the enemies in the Metaverse are as well and The Reaper would fall within three turns. This method, however, was removed in

To get the Reaper to spawn, the player must first enter Mementos. While exploring the floors, stop moving, and standing still will allow the Reaper to spawn after a while. Eventually, Morgana will call out the sounds of chains rattling. This means the Reaper has appeared somewhere on the floor and players can then explore until they find it.
Be warned, this is one of the hardest fights in the game now that the flu season trick is no longer available.
Before stepping into this fight, it is recommended to at least be level 60 at this point in the game and have maxed-out confidants for the active party members for this fight. Ensure to also equip the best weapons and armor at this point in the game.
Make sure whoever your designated healer has the spell Mediarahan as this move fully restores the HP of every party member on the team.
