Partial Solar eclipse date and where it will be visible in India
A partial solar eclipse of this year will be visible in several parts of the world on Tuesday, October 25. It will be best visible in parts of western Russia and Kazakhstan and in some parts of India. Tamilnadu Science and Technology Centre said in a press release that the partial eclipse will be visible in Chennai, beginning at 5.14 p.m. and ending at 5.44 p.m. However, in certain parts of Russia and Kazakhstan, it would be visible around 80%. Additionally, it would also be visible in most parts of Europe, northern Africa, the Middle East, and parts of Asia.
Those who are in the area where the upcoming solar eclipse will be visible, are advised to not to look at the sun directly without any eye protection. You can observe the eclipse for a few seconds using solar-eclipse goggles or Welder's glasses to avoid permanent eye injury or loss of eyesight.
The last solar eclipse took place on June 21, 2020, and the next eclipse will take place on August 2, 2027. Meanwhile, there will also be a lunar eclipse to take place on October 28, 2023, but it will not be visible.
A solar eclipse takes place when the Moon moves between the Sun and the Earth, casting its shadows on the earth. However, a partial eclipse happens when the Moon is blocking only a part of the Sun's disk. It looks like the Moon is taking a bite out of the Sun. As per the information shared by NASA, the upcoming eclipse will have roughly 65% of the Sun blotted out by the Moon. However, the amount of the Sun obscured by the Moon will also depend on where the person is viewing it from.
This year, two solar and lunar eclipses are scheduled to take place this year. The next solar eclipse will also be partial.
