Overwatch 2 seemed to impress many fans with its closed beta that ran from April 26 to May 17. The sequel to Overwatch saw many changes to existing characters, with some of them boosting the power level of a hero significantly. Bastion, for example, no longer needs to be entirely stable when using his turret mode, making him less vulnerable as he deals vast amounts of damage, something that streamer xQc found to be incredibly powerful.
While many characters have received major buffs and reworks, one hero from the original Overwatch that has l;argely been left out is Zenyatta. While the support has been given a new strong melee attack that lets Zenyatta distance himself from enemies in Overwatch 2, some fans feel that the character is otherwise lackluster in-game. This has led one Overwatch 2 fan to design their own rework for Zenyatta, giving him a new ability similar to Orisa and Doomfist's changes, more fitting with an overhaul of the hero rather than a simple buff to his passive.
Overwatch 2 Event Announced for Next Month
The Zenyatta rework gives the character a new ability titled «Meditation Orbs» by Reddit user Shinoluigi. Essentially, this changes Zenyatta's Discord and Harmony orbs so that when they drop from an enemy or ally, they no longer return to the hero. Instead, they drop on the floor, creating somewhat of a miniature mine for enemies and a pickup for allies. If a friendly hero picks up the Meditation Orb on the ground, they will heal themselves. However, if an enemy picks up the orb, they will gain the discord debuff, which acts similarly in Overwatch 2 to how it does in the previous game.
The dropped orb will also slow enemies for a short time. Zenyatta won't be able to have more than three Meditation Orbs
