Overwatch 2 may finally be getting a beta release in the near future, according to the latest developments. Namely, it would seem that Blizzard has been pushing a number of developer builds for the long-awaited Overwatch sequel via Battle.net, with references to all manner of interesting information.
Though this is far from being an official confirmation in any capacity, the fact remains that Blizzard has released a number of potential Overwatch 2 updates as of late. On top of that, it would seem that the game is now visible in Battle.net's backend, which definitely means that the production of Overwatch 2 is moving along.
Blizzard Lead Outlines Plan to Rebuild Trust With Players and Employees
Specifically, the updates in question reference something called 'Overwatch Demo 2' which now seems to be sitting at build version 1.50.0.0.93186. At the same time, Overwatch itself got a development update, too. One that pushes the game to version 2.00.7.0.93195. Just a few months back, both Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 got pushed back with no new release dates in mind, making these developer updates particularly interesting at this time.
The production updates in question are coming in just a few days following the initial rumors that Overwatch 2 Beta may be coming in sooner than expected. Many members of the Overwatch community came out claiming that a beta of some type would be made available soon. Following the aforementioned pushbacks, this could be a way for Activision Blizzard to revive some Overwatch 2 hype and to keep the game in the public eye.
