Hollywood insider Matthew Belloni thinks Will Smith and Chris Rock could present an award together at next year's Oscars. The 94th Academy Awards were presented Sunday night on ABC, paying tribute to the past year's best motion pictures. Apple TV+'s CODA took home the highest honor, Best Picture, along with Adapted Screenplay for Sian Heder and Actor in a Supporting Role for Troy Kotsur, who delivered one of the night's most emotional speeches. Dune took home the most trophies of any film, winning a total 6 awards in various technical categories.
Unfortunately, the night was overshadowed by a shocking moment in which Will Smith stormed the stage and slapped Chris Rock in response to a joke directed at his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. The comedian was presenting the award for Best Documentary Feature when he made a G.I. Jane joke poking fun at Pinkett Smith's bald head, which is due to an autoimmune disorder known as alopecia. After the physical altercation, Smith returned to his seat and yelled to Rock on stage, "Keep my wife's name out of your f***ing mouth!" During his subsequent acceptance speech for Best Actor in a Leading Role, he expressed regret about the situation, and later issued a formal apology to Rock.
