Upcoming open-world survival game Lost Skies has shown off what its gameplay is all about, and I'm immediately taken by the chance to swing and glide from floating mountain to floating mountain up among the clouds.
As part of the latest Future Games Show at Gamescom Presented by Sid Meier’s Civilization® VII, developer Bossa Studios gives us a first look at the gameplay of the base-building survival game. The vibe starts as it means to go on as we see several tranquil floating islands before one brave explorer takes a leap of faith to start swinging between them. Freedom of flight doesn't have to be enjoyed alone, though. Our adventurer is joined by friends as they swing and glide gracefully to where they need to go.
Of course, that's not all Lost Skies is – though it's certainly a lot of what I'll be doing. The trailer rounds off by showing our group going through the survival game staples of resource-gathering and light combat before we take to piloting a ship to call the day done. While the trailer is mostly a chill affair, we do end with the sight of what could be an enemy ship, suggesting that your peace might have to be hard fought for.
Set to come to PC, Lost Skies lets you explore the remains of lost civilizations as you piece together their history – all while braving the elements and colossal beings that brought about their downfall. You can discover all of this at your own pace as you venture through land reclaimed by nature to find and build ancient technology. Central to all of this is the skyship you'll build and maintain to give yourself a safe space from the elements and the means to take out the evils that linger beyond.
