Bandai has announced One Piece Card Game, which is an upcoming collectible card game based on the best-selling manga series. One Piece is a fantasy manga that follows the crew of the Straw Hat Pirates, as they search for the mythical treasure known as One Piece.
One Piece has received video games in the past, and it's now entering the world of card games. The official One Piece Card Game website has announced that the game is coming to Japan in July 2022 and the rest of the world at a later point in the year. A promotional video for the game is available on the Official Bandai Card Game Channel on YouTube. The artwork for a Monkey D. Luffy card is already available on the social media channels for the game, and it's notably light on text compared to similar games. This suggests the gameplay will be a lot simpler than its contemporaries, like Magic: The Gathering or Yu-Gi-Oh!.

The website lists four starter decks, with one for Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Crew, one for Eustass Kidd and the Worst Generation, one for Kaido and the Animal Kingdom Pirates, and one for Crocodile and The Seven Warlords of the Sea. The first Booster Pack set will be called Romance Dawn, after the first chapter of the manga. The official One Piece Card Game website also features a translated message from One Piece author Eiichiro Oda, which is accompanied by a picture of Luffy summoning Kaido in the same manner as the cards in the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga and video games. Oda confirms that it will use artwork from the original manga.
