Gundam Evolution is a mecha-based hero shooter who lets players step into their favorite mechas. Players will be able to fulfill all their power fantasies that come with the genre's tropes. The game is based on the legendary Gundam franchise, and long-time fans are biding their time to control their favorite mechas.
The game is much in the vein of Overwatch, right down to the various abilities but comes with a generous serving of Mechas. The 6v6 format isn't much of an innovation but looks to capitalize on the success of other recent Hero Shooters. The game is expected to release globally in 2022.
Gundam Evolution, developed by Bandai Namco, is a free-to-play first-person hero shooter. It is a team-based 6v6 objective-driven competitive shooter similar to games like Overwatch. Later this year, the game will be released for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
There will be three game modes built around specific objectives: Point Capture, Domination, and Destruction. Players will have the opportunity to pilot classic Gundam Mechs such as the RX-78-2 Gundam and the immensely popular ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos, each with unique offensive and defensive skills in their arsenal.
Other mobile suits that are confirmed include MSN-04 Sazabi, MS-06 Zaku II, and System-∀99 ∀ Gundam. Other mechs were hinted at in the announcement trailer. Bandai Namco has promised that the starting roster for the game will have 12 units.
Players will have the option to unlock more mobile suits with earnable in-game currency or EVO coins that players can purchase with real money. There will also be season passes available for purchase, including unlockable cosmetics, mobile suit skins, weapon skins, and weapon charms.
