Octordle is Wordle for people who think Quordle’s too easy

If solving four Wordles at once has grown stale for you, you may enjoy Octordle, which has you doing eight instead.

Wordle’s obscene popularity meant it was only a matter of time until someone came up with hard mode variants. One of them, Quordle, tasks you with solving four Wordle puzzles at the same time.

Since then, somebody looked at Quordle and figured it still wasn’t offering enough of a challenge. Enter Octordle. In case the name didn’t clue you in, it’s Wordle times eight.

While it’s generous enough to give you 13 tries to guess all eight words at once, it’s undoubtedly a lot more difficult. We tried it ourselves and made the mistake of attempting it like a normal game of Wordle, guessing one word at a time. We only solved half of them before we hit the limit.

Fundamentally, Octordle is no different to Wordle. Enter a five-letter word and the game will tell you the answer contains any of your letters and if they’re in the right spot.

Since there are eight different solutions, keeping track of which letters are in which word is probably the trickiest part. Even if you’re lucky enough to get the first three letters in one word, those same letters likely won’t be in one of the other seven words.

While there is a daily Octordle puzzle that changes every 24 hours, there is an option to play unlimited puzzles in case you can’t wait a day for a new one. In case you’re wondering, the website is ad free to, which is fortunately a common trend across most Wordle clones.

There’s also a full screen option, although there appears to be no stat tracker or a light mode/dark mode, so hopefully you enjoy the pitch black background.
