Sung Kang’s unknown character in Obi-Wan Kenobi is assumed to be an Imperial Inquisitor, but one theory suggests that he’s playing the formerJedi and Order 66 survivor, Ferus Olin. Obi-Wan Kenobi will see the titular Jedi Master protecting a young Luke Skywalker on Tatooine while avoiding Imperial notice. While the plot of the upcoming Disney+ miniseries is unknown, Kenobi’s adventures will presumably take him off Tatooine for a time, where he’ll fight Darth Vader once more in between the prequel and original trilogies. Sung Kang’s description of his mysterious character suggests that he could be an Inquisitor, but Ferus Olin is another possible choice and a more interesting one at that.
Set between the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope, Obi-Wan Kenobi will explore the “dark times” when the Empire reigned and the few Jedi who survived Order 66 were fugitives. Although the Jedi Order was all but destroyed by the Empire, Jedi like Obi-Wan and Yoda tactfully wait for the right moment to train the children of Anakin Skywalker to bring about the return of the Jedi and the defeat of the Sith. For Obi-Wan, this means living a quiet existence on the harsh desert world of Tatooine, where he watches over Luke Skywalker until the time is right for him to begin his Jedi path.

While Obi-Wan’s mission is, by design, straightforward and not particularly exciting, Obi-Wan Kenobi will likely feature some sort of disruption to Kenobi’s long-term plan that forces him to leave his self-imposed post and travel elsewhere in the galaxy.
