Warning! Spoilers ahead for Venom #5
While Eddie Brock's Venom has begun to embrace his new powers as Marvel's new King in Black, it's been revealed that his newest foe would be a perfect rival for Kang the Conqueror. While Eddie Brock has just begun to unshackle himself from the constraints of his own timeline, his new abilities are nothing compared to Meridius, a fellow King in Black from another point in time who's already broken Kang's rules regarding his conquest. Seeing as how Kang has already been teased for a greater role in Marvel's new Venom series, he could become a hero by helping Eddie defeat Meridius.
While Meridius can choose when and where he goes throughout time at will, Eddie's control is less refined with his first jump seeing him experiencing multiple points all at once. This included what looked to be a future conversation with Kang who identified himself as Venom's oldest friend despite their lack of significant interactions in the past or present. As such, this seemingly suggests that Kang and Eddie's friendship will soon begin in future issues.

It's also been revealed in the new Venom #5 from Al Ewing and Bryan Hitch that Meridius is not the ally he makes himself out to be to Eddie. In truth, Meridius sees Eddie and his son Dylan (the new Venom) as pawns in a larger game where he'll eventually kill both Brocks, claiming the Venom symbiote for himself. However, while Kang generally has honor and rules for his conquests such as picking a point in time and staying within it whether he succeeds or fails, Meridius has displayed a willingness to travel earlier and further surrounding the same point in time in order to get
