Warning: Spoilers for Netflix's Vikings: Valhalla.
King Canute, later known as Canute the Great in history, appears in Vikings: Valhalla as one of its main characters, and much of his plotline and what happens to him in the show follows the true story of the real historical figure. Having successfully seized the English throne, Canute looks to the next part of his plan to achieve his dream of an empire in Northern Europe, something he speaks more openly about after his conquest of London. While it is fair to say that the historical events on which the show is based have been somewhat condensed and romanticized, it is equally fair to acknowledge the true tales on which the show is based.
