With all episodes now available for streaming on Disney+, Obi-Wan Kenobi could be expanded to create a season 2, but continuing the story may be a bad idea. After premiering on May 27, 2022, Obi-Wan Kenobi featured six episodes that focused on Obi-Wan’s activities during his self-imposed exile on Tatooine. However, his goal of watching over young Luke Skywalker was complicated when Leia Organa, Luke’s twin sister, was kidnapped from her home on Alderaan. On his mission to rescue Princess Leia, Obi-Wan not only fought Inquisitors and his old Padawan Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, but he also came to terms with his past.
While intended to be a limited-run miniseries, there have already been rumors of making Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2, especially based on recent comments by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. In an interview, Kennedy explained that Lucasfilm is open to creating Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 based on fans’ reactions. If enough fans watch Obi-Wan Kenobi and express a desire for a second season, Lucasfilm may continue the show.

Although some viewers dubbed Obi-Wan Kenobi a “cash grab,” many fans were excited to see the return of popular characters and cast members, such as Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan and Hayden Christensen as Anakin/Vader. Based on the overwhelmingly positive response from fans such as these, Lucasfilm may already be considering Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2.
