The Nothing Phone (1) is finally available after weeks of teases and is a smartphone that focuses more on design than on specs. Even though it pushes performance to the back seat, it does try to balance everything out with a reasonable price. The Android phone is the second product from Nothing, following the ear (1) earbuds, and it's a big leap to jump from earbuds to a smartphone, and especially in less than two years of existence.
Nothing's smartphone sits squarely in the premium mid-range category. It will be going up against Google's Pixel 6a which will also be available later this month. Another major competitor is the Xiaomi 12 Lite, the cheapest model in the Xiaomi 12 series. At the same time, the new Nothing Phone also has to convince buyers it is worth choosing over Apple's cheapest iPhone, the iPhone SE 3.

Nothing already revealed the design of the Phone (1) weeks prior to its launch. The phone is covered in Gorilla Glass 5 on both sides and has a metal frame and chassis made from recycled aluminum. The frame is flat and there are antenna bands visible on the edges. While these elements are typically found on many modern smartphones, what makes the Nothing Phone (1) stand out is its transparent back panel. The see-through glass allows users to view the phone's internals which include a bunch of LEDs that make up a light notification system called the Glyph Interface. The Nothing Phone (1) will be available to purchase in black or white color options.
The Nothing Phone (1) isn't a small phone but it isn't outrageously big either. The screen is a 6.55-inch flexible OLED display with a 2400 × 1080 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.
