Google Maps is bringing the much awaited Street View feature to India. Street View has been available across the world since years but Google couldn't bring the same to India due to restrictions. Now though, it is here and is made possible due to the involvement of two local partners from the country. The Street View in India will work the same way it works in other countries and a couple of prominent Indian cities will be available for explorers to try out. Have a look.
Google announced the Street View experience in India in partnership with Genesys International, which is an advanced mapping solutions firm, and Tech Mahindra, a provider of digital transformation, consulting, and business re-engineering services and solutions. The feature will be available starting today along with fresh imagery licensed from local partners. Google says that over 150,000 km across ten cities in India will be a part of the Street View feature.
Google says that the Street View feature is coming to a total of 50 cities in India by the end of 2022, starting with Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Nashik, Vadodara, Ahmednagar, and Amritsar.
Using the new Street View is an easy process and this is what you need to do.
-Simply open Google Maps and zoom into a road in any of these target cities.
- Now tap the area you want to view and you will see a 360-degree photo of the place.
- You can get to know the local cafes, and cultural hotspots, or simply check out the local neighbourhood.
“Street View will help people navigate and explore new corners of the country and the world in a more visual and accurate way, enabling them to fully experience what it's like to be in these places, right from their phone or computer,” says Google.
