After years of waiting, God of War fans can finally mark the God of War Ragnarok release date down on their calendars. Come November 9, gamers on PS4 and PS5 will be able to dive into Kratos' latest adventure, which we know will be the last entry in the Norse mythology saga. It remains to be seen how it will all end up, but in the meantime, Sony has published a new plot synopsis explaining the story of God of War Ragnarok on the PlayStation Store.
«Fimbulwinter is well underway. Kratos and Atreus must journey to each of the Nine Realms in search of answers as Asgardian forces prepare for a prophesized battle that will end the world. Along the way they will explore stunning, mythical landscapes, and face fearsome enemies in the form of Norse gods and monsters. The threat of Ragnarok grows ever closer. Kratos and Atreus must choose between their own safety and the safety of the realms,» the new PlayStation Store synposis reads. A lot of this information could already be guessed at based on what's been shown in the God of War Ragnarok trailers, but it's still nice to have an updated plot summary nevertheless.
God of War Ragnarok Release Date Finally Announced
The synopsis points out some of the main threats that Kratos and Atreus will face in God of War Ragnarok, namely the titular Ragnarok apocalypse looming on the horizon and «Asgardian forces» that are looking to fight them. One of the Asgardian forces in question is Thor, the God of Thunder, who has been presented as the main antagonist of the new game. It will be interesting to see what other Asgardian characters pop up in God of War Ragnarok, and if Odin himself makes an appearance or not.
