Will the Nothing Phone (1) will have a 90Hz display or a 120Hz display? The question that has been keeping fans of the brand has been finally answered by Nothing itself. Yes, the Nothing Phone (1) will feature a 120Hz refresh rate display and before you ask, No, it won't get the fancy variable refresh rate thing. Nothing has just shown off the feature on its latest TikTok post, wherein the person deep dives into the Settings to enable the “Smooth display” option. The feature seems to be turned off by default.
Most midrange smartphones under Rs. 50,000 feature 120Hz refresh rate displays as standard. In fact, you can find several cheap smartphones from Motorola and Xiaomi to feature the 120Hz displays. Hence, it was obvious for Nothing to offer a 120Hz refresh rate display, given that Nothing would not want its first phone to cut down a lot in order to keep the price low.
The rest of the Settings menu also shows a vast array of standard features related to display you expect to find on any other Android phone. Rumours suggest that the Phone (1) will have a 6.5-inch OLED display with a symmetrical bezels and a small camera cutout in the corner.
Weirdly, Nothing is compromising a bit with the chipset on its first smartphone. Instead of using a flagship grade Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, Nothing is using an older Snapdragon 778G+ chip. Nothing said it worked with Qualcomm to enable support for wireless charging and minor performance boosts on this chip, hence the “+” moniker. Note that this chipset is already running the show on the Motorola Edge 30.
While the Snapdragon 778G+ is no slouch, it remains to be seen how good a job Nothing has done in optimizing the phone. Other leaked specs include a 4500mAh battery with support for 45W
