Nothing Ear (1) are a unique pair of truly wireless stereo earbuds, flaunting a semi-transparent design along with plenty of features and decent battery life. However, for new and existing owners wanting to make the most of the earbuds experience, they might want to consider downloading the corresponding smartphone app, and especially when it comes to switching between activate noise canceling and the other sound modes.
Released in August last year, the earbuds sold more than 100,000 units in the first few months, even though they compete on price with other wireless earbuds like the OnePlus Buds Pro. More recently, Nothing released a firmware update that adds support for voice assistants to the earbuds. With the added support, Android and iOS users can quickly and easily call up Google Assistant and Siri, respectively. This is in addition to using Amazon Alexa, as and when needed.

The Nothing Ear (1) comes with different sound modes consisting of noise cancellation, transparency, and normal. Based on the environment a user is in, and the amount of background noise present, they can toggle through these modes by tapping and holding the touch sensor on the earbuds. This results in the earbuds producing distinct feedback sounds to represent activation of the different modes. While users will notice a sudden drop in background noise when activating noise-canceling mode, the transparency mode enhances the background noise. However, this method might be confusing for some users considering the audio feedback is slightly difficult to understand.
