The Nothing Phone (1) is all the hype at the moment, dominating the headlines and social media. However, Nothing is also said to be working on accessories, one of which is expected to be a variant of its earbuds launched over a year ago. It already has a name – the Nothing Ear (1) Stick earbuds and thanks to a tip, we even know how it looks. The Nothing Ear (1) Stick earbuds are supposed to be a variant of the original earbuds and while the specs are unknown, the shape of the case changes drastically.
Shared by tipster Mukul Sharma, the Nothing Ear (1) Stick earbuds at first glance look familiar – same transparent design as the original earbuds. In fact, the earbuds themselves are largely identical to the original ear (1) earbuds. The nameplate shows the Nothing Ear (1) Stick name though. Everything else has changed.
The case of the Nothing Ear (1) Stick look like…erm… just a stick. In fact, it looks more like a cigarette lighter than a case for earbuds. The case is vertical and seems to have been designed keeping in mind the ergonomics. Maybe Nothing wanted the earbuds case to easily slide into trouser pockets, which is not as easy with the current ear (1) case.
In a Gadgets360 report, it is said that the earbuds won’t launch on July 12 alongside the Nothing Phone (1). Instead, this will have its separate launch day later in the year. Nothing has been shared about its specs or features.
Based on what we have, it seems that the Nothing Ear (1) Stick could be a no-frills more affordable variant of the Ear (1) earbuds. That means the slimmer case could pack in a smaller battery and it could most likely miss out on the wireless charging feature, which is obvious with such an unconventional case design.
