The new iPhone 14 Pro series is going to be powered by the upgraded and quite powerful A16 Bionic chipset this year. This will make the iPhone 14 Pro the most powerful iPhone ever, but it will not be the fastest for too long. In fact, it will likely not be the fastest chip in the world either. The latest report by PhoneArena, which quoted Digitimes Asia saying that the really outstanding chip upgrade will be in the iPhone 15 Pro next year. As per the report, the iPhone 15 Pro will be the first iPhone to get a 3nm processor, enhanced N3E version, chipset which will make it the fastest chipset in the world.
"The next generation 3nm mobile processor node will soon be moved to volume production, said representatives of the Taiwanese foundry TSMC, but its enhanced N3E version won't be in phone chipsets before Apple rolls in the iPhone 15 Pro models," the PhoneArena report mentioned. The report also quoted TSMC's CEO as saying, "N3E will further extend our N3 family with enhanced performance, power and yield. We observed a high level of customer engagement at N3E, and volume production is scheduled for around one year after N3, or about this time next year".
With this upgrade, it is expected that the Pro models of iPhone will be the fastest chipset in the world, till the Qualcomm Snapdragon and MediaTek launches in 2024.
Qualcomm's next chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is expected to feature in the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, but won't get the 3nm process as it will continue with the 4nm chipset. However, in 2024, Samsung may launch the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with a 3nm process, the report mentioned. The same is expected from another major chipset maker MediaTek "which will only issue 3nm processors made by TSMC towards the tail end of
