The British Academy Game Awards, as part of the BAFTA ceremony, went ahead last night, and the winners of each category have been announced with No Man's Sky being given kudos. With Hello Games saying it's nowhere near done updating its space simulator, the company's reputation has done a 180 over the years after an initially controversial release in 2016, and now it's been recognized once again.
On the official BAFTA Games Twitter account, it was announced that No Man's Sky would be taking home the award for Evolving Game, going against such other notable titles as Among Us, Disco Elysium, and Fortnite. In response to the win, the studio's Sean Murray took to Twitter to express his joy at receiving the award, with many fans congratulating the developer for what has been quite a journey for the game. Last year saw Rare's pirate-themed release Sea of Thieves take home the award.

As for the rest of the awards show, this year saw psychological horror Returnal achieve BAFTA's Best Game award for 2022, as well as the awards for Audio Achievement and Music. Among the other winners this year were Forza Horizon 5 for Best British Game, Daniel Mullins' metafictional title Inscryption which won Game Design, and It Takes Two took home the awards for Multiplayer release and Original Property.
While most game award ceremonies honor what's been released either that same year or the year before, the fact that No Man's Sky won this particular award shows the amount of work that continues to be put into the title by Hello Games.
