Nintendo President Says Company Is In "Uncharted Territory" With 6-Year-Old Switch
Even Nintendo seems somewhat surprised at the phenomenal success of the Switch. The Switch has broken records, with its games repeatedly landing on best-seller lists, while the console has become the third best-selling of all time, overtaking Sony's PlayStation 4 and Nintendo's Game Boy, with more than 122 million lifetime sales. All this means the company is finding itself in unexplored territory.
Let's recall that the Mario maker also scored a hit with its innovative Wii console, and that it too had a long lifespan, but towards the end, as the company prepared to replace it with the Wii U, development wound down. With the Switch now experiencing slowing sales, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has been repeatedly asked by investors if this generation is over (via Kotaku). And it seems there's still life yet.

The Nintendo president believes the company has entered "uncharted territory" and revealed that there are still titles under development for the Switch. Here are his exact words:
"Nintendo Switch is coming up on its seventh year of sales in March, and we see this as uncharted territory in the history of our dedicated video game platforms. Under these circumstances it is hard to imagine that hardware sales will continute to grow at the same pace they have to date," Furukawa said.
He continued: "However, there are titles under development for Nintendo Switch, and new titles will continue to be proposed going forward".
