Nintendo's Switch lineup is fairly strong, with a plethora of games that will be released this year. This can be seen with the Nintendo Direct showcase back in February, which detailed a number of games such as Mario Strikers: Battle League, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, and Splatoon 3. Most of these first-party titles on the Switch are set to come out later this year in Summer. While these are all highly-anticipated games in the Switch's library, a notable leaker of Nintendo notes that another one could be coming fairly soon as a «shadowdrop» announcement, with many coming to the conclusion that they are teasing a sequel to 2017's 1-2-Switch.
1-2-Switch was a party game that was released alongside the Nintendo Switch's launch, which demonstrated a lot of the console and Joy-con's function. More specifically, it demonstrated the Switch's HD-Rumble and IR Motion Camera features, the newest innovations introduced. This was exemplified through the various mini-games available in the game, which received WarioWare comparisons due to the heavy focus on them. While sales of the game were healthy, topping out at a little over 3 million units in 2019, the critical reception was decidedly mixed due to the lack of progression and content.

Despite this reception, a notable Nintendo leaker is seemingly indicating that 1-2-Switch will be getting a sequel of some kind. This leak was posted on Twitter by Samus Hunter, with an incredibly vague tweet. It states that the game they are teasing will be polarizing, but it will be a «shadowdrop» announcement on Nintendo's social media channels, release within one to two months, and will be a «surprise» to everyone.
