Nintendo Switch Online's Expansion Pack caused some controversy upon its launch back in October. With a $30 price hike, emulation issues and a lack of features within the Nintendo 64 games that came with the new membership plan, it wasn't warmly received by fans. However, three months later, fans are noticing some improvements hanks to a new update.
As reported by VGC, players are sharing evidence that Nintendo is working on improving the emulator for N64 games, following the recent update and release of Banjo-Kazooie on the Switch Online Expansion Pack. One of the N64 games that received some patches is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which had graphical issues with its fog and water textures.

OatmealDome tweeted a screenshot of the Water Temple level from Ocarina of Time, showing that the water leading to the room inside the area has gained texture transparency. The improvements aren't 100 percent better, though, as the fog is still missing and the water still lacks texture in the GameCube version.
Dataminer LuigiBlood said that the latest Switch Online update did not change the game ROMs, it only fixed the N64 emulator just a smidge. "So whatever fix they did for Zelda Ocarina of Time it was not added as a hack, seems to be an actual emulator fix," they said.
Despite the update, fans are still experiencing some of the same issues in other N64 games as they have before. For example, NullType42 has reported that there are still some bugs in Yoshi's Story, where Invisio's invisibility gives off a mirror effect instead of just keeping everything but his eyes and mouth out of plain view.
