We still don’t know when Return to Monkey Island will be released, but now we have a pretty good idea of how much it’ll cost.
As spotted by GameRant, the Nintendo eShop recently updated itself with a new listing for Return to Monkey Island. And while the main listing doesn’t have the game’s price, the search results do.

And it’s a pretty reasonable price, too. So long as the eShop listing doesn’t change, Return to Monkey Island will set you back $24.99. That’s the same price as Terrible Toybox’s previous release, Thimbleweed Park, another point-and-click adventure game that first came out in 2017.
And as noted by GameRant, a price tag of $24.99 would make Return to Monkey Island the cheapest game in the franchise. The very first Monkey Island game was priced at $49.99, which would be roughly $110 in today’s money adjusting for inflation. Even the Monkey Island Collection, which combines the remastered Special Edition versions of both The Secret of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge as well as The Curse of Monkey Island and Escape from Monkey Island, is still priced at $29.99 (although it’s on sale now for 25 percent off).
As for Return to Monkey Island, we’ve been seeing more and more of Guybrush Threepwood’s adventure thanks to teasers posted on series creator Rob Gilbert’s social media channels. The latest shows how dread pirate LeChuck inspires his undead crew with an eloquent speech, with plenty of "keel hauls" and "walk the planks."
